SOUTH YARMOUTH – Dennis-Yarmouth’s Sammi Feinstein scattered five hits and walked four batters but stranded all of them as the hard-throwing righty paced the Dolphins to a 13-0 shutout over Nauset Wednesday afternoon.
She struck out seven and left Nauset baserunners in scoring position twice. Feinstein also went 2-3 at the plate as part of the Dolphins’ 13-hit, 13-run attack. The Dolphins are now 2-0.
Patty Newhard led the way for the Dennis-Yarmouth bats as she went 3-3 with three basehits and scored three runs. Dolphin first baseman Meghan Cole and third baseman Hailey Miller both added a pair of hits, with Cole scoring twice and Miller coming across three times.
The piece-de-resistance in the solid Dolphin hitting display was a screaming, two-run home run to centerfield from catcher Maggie Johnson.
Junior righty Natalie Keagul took the tough loss on the mound for Nauset (0-3). She struck out three in four innings of work. The game was shortened due to the 12-run mercy rule.
Sabrina Santos, Kaylee Mason, Kay Rathenberg and Rebecca Miller each had hits for the visiting Warriors.
