Continuous Henri coverage


CAPE COD – Tropical Storm Henri is approaching and looks to make landfall soon somewhere along Narragansett Bay. Cape Wide News will have continuous coverage as warranted through the day in this article.

11 AM update: Falmouth officials report Surf Drive flooded in areas. Eversource reports 70 customers out in Centerville.

1 PM update: Photos show people in Cotuit checking out the water at the town dock. Lower, boats pulled out of the water at Ropes Field in Cotuit (Photos by Russell Frayre/CWN). No significant damage or power outages on the Cape at this hour. Coastal Connecticut and Rhode Island appeared to have taken the brunt of the storm so far. A 70 MPH wind gust was reported at Point Judith, RI. At least 3 inches of rain prompted flash flood warnings for much of the Connecticut coastline.

2 PM Update: Mashpee Police posted this video of conditions along the shore in their town. Falmouth DPW crews cleared a large tree that was down on West Falmouth Highway (Route 28) near Palmer Avenue.

5 PM update: Eversource is showing 282 customers out in Falmouth from falling limbs. All tropical warnings are canceled. A Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect for minor flooding along the shoreline. We leave you with few “Henri” photos by Jane Sheehy Emplit:
