NANTUCKET – A Coast Guard aircrew from Air Station Cape Cod rescued four fishermen early Wednesday morning after their boat began taking on water 40 miles south of Nantucket. All four men were uninjured and brought safely to shore. After receiving a MAYDAY call from the F/V Rebecca Mary, U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod was able to hone in on their location with the use the fishing vessel’s Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB), taking the Search out of Search and Rescue! Having a properly registered EPIRB or Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) when you go out on the water can assist rescue crews during an emergency.
