CHATHAM – Applications are being accepted for the Chatham Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla’s Boating Safety and Seamanship courses.
Certified Coast Guard Auxiliary instructors will provide an overview of navigation rules, legal requirements, safe operations and how to handle emergencies.
The one-day classes are June 1 and July 6 at the Chatham Community Center and June 29 at West Dennis Yacht Club.
The classes run from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
The registration fee is $40 for adults and $20 for juniors. The fee covers the cost of materials for the course. Junior material, for participants ages 12-17, is provided by the Massachusetts Environmental Police.
Enrollment forms may be obtained from the Flotilla’s Public Education Officer, Liz Hager, at [email protected] or by calling 508-774-7269. Applicants may also register at Fisherman’s Supply at 67 Depot Street in Chatham. Students may also pay on the day of classes if openings remain.
