FALMOUTH – Old rivalries were renewed and bragging rights were on the line across Cape Cod with a helping of Thanksgiving Day high school football games.
Traditional rivalry games are a Turkey Day tradition in Massachusetts, and few rivalries in the state go back as far as Falmouth and Barnstable.
The Cape’s two largest towns will met for the 131st time at Falmouth High School.
The Clippers won their third straight game over Barnstable 50-32.
The undefeated Dennis-Yarmouth Dolphins hammered visiting Nauset 34-8 to win the Chowder Bowl. The game was a tune-up for the Dolphins, who will play in the Division 5 Super Bowl against West Springfield next weekend at Gillette Stadium.
The Mashpee Falcons are also headed to a state title game next weekend, but first they downed rival Sandwich 28-15 at DeConto Stadium. The Falcons now lead the series 8-5.
Mashpee will play Blackstone Valley for the Division 7 state title.
Bourne fell Wareham 42-8 in the 87th Thanksgiving meeting.
Cape Tech brought home the Golden Wrench with a 30-6 win over Upper Cape Tech.
Monomoy beat Sacred Heart off Cape 32-7. Monomy now leads the series 2-1.
