YARMOUTH – The YPD Summer 2017 Junior Police Academy will be held during the last week of July and is one of several innovative, effective programs that the Department provides for young people in the Town of Yarmouth.
This special program gives young individuals between the ages of 8 and 13 the opportunity to train with Police Officers for one week during the summer, leading to positive relationships between the Police Department and the children of Yarmouth.
Participants will attend the Junior Police Academy at Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters, during the week of Monday July 24 to Friday July 28 with a separate morning and afternoon session according to age group.
• Children ages 8, 9, and 10 attend from 9AM to 11AM
• Children ages 11, 12, and 13 attend from 1PM to 3PM
Yarmouth Police Officers conduct classes that include:
Headquarters Tour
Lectures
Role-plays
Demonstrations in the areas of law
Drug prevention
K-9 Demonstration
The Junior Police Academy will enhance responsible citizenship and provide positive interaction with Police Officers and educates young people about the challenges and responsibility of the profession of Law Enforcement.
