Have you driven past other houses, gazed at the gardens, and thought HOW DO THEY DO THAT?
We’re here to help.
Each month CapeCod.com will bring you tips and tricks to get your garden in shape.
Horticulturist Jeanie Gillis of Pine Tree Nursery has your homework sheet for the month of May:
Spring is for planting!!!!
Weed – an early jump on weed control makes for less work.
Use Preen on shell and stone driveways.
Mulch around your trees and shrubs to hold moisture, prevent weeds and make everything look neat.
Fertilize everything. Plants are growing and they need food.
Prune and fertilize your hydrangeas. Attend a workshop if you need help with pruning.
Start your Rose care. Prune back anything dead, damaged or in your way and start fertilizing.
Great time to start or refresh a lawn.
Fertilize your spring bulbs before and after they flower.
Call Pine Tree to reserve your 3 gallon-size tomato plants! We’ve grown a wide selection of your favorite varieties for pick up around Memorial Day.
