HARWICH – Police and Fire-Rescue, as well as the MA State Police were dispatched to a 2 car MVA with injuries on RT 124 at the Exit 10 Westbound exit ramp. A Toyota Yaris had extensive front end damage and was located in the middle of RT 124 and a Saturn sedan also with significant damage was located across the exit ramp into the guardrail.
Both vehicles had air bags deployed. Both drivers were evaluated by Medics at the scene and one was transported to Cape Cod Hospital with apparent non-life threatening injuries, while the other driver refused further medical treatment.
Harwich Fire personnel made both vehicle safe for towing and also handled a fluid spill, while State Police and Harwich Police directed traffic around the scene.
Normally very busy traffic was slowed even further for a time, with RT 124 Northbound shut down as well as the westbound exit ramp, while the scene was worked. Traffic was reopened shortly to one alternating lane until the cars could be removed.
The accident is under investigation by MA State Police.
