Hurricane Season begins June 1st and runs through November 30th. The Climate Prediction Center (CPC) issued its 2011 Atlantic hurricane season outlook on May 19th, calling for a high likelihood (65% chance) of an above normal season. Forecasters say there is a 70 percent chance of having 12 to 18 named storms, of which 6 to 10 could become hurricanes, including 3 to 6 major hurricanes (Category 3, 4 or 5). These ranges encompass the entire season, which ends November 30. The NOAA encourages preparedness for each and every season regardless of the seasonal outlook For details on predictions visit The NOAA Website.
