Introduction to Mexican Smalti with Kim Wozniak
Celebrate Cinco de Mayo! This exciting course will introduce students to the beauty, history and versatility of the unique, handmade material called smalti, and discuss the differences and similarities between Mexican and Italian cut smalti. It will cover basic design, layout and visual understanding of the material while students create a smalti work of art. Each student will learn how to work with the ancient hammer and hardie, as well as gain an understanding of modern cutting tools. This is a fulfilling experience for artists in all mediums and of all levels. The two-day workshop is $285 plus $30 for all materials and supplies.
