Hurricane Season began June 1st and runs through November 30th. Weather experts from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association say that the 2009 Atlantic Hurricane Season calls for a 50 percent probability of a near-normal season, a 25 percent probability of an above-normal season and a 25 percent probability of a below-normal season. Forecasters say there is a 70 percent chance of having 9 to 14 named storms, of which 4 to 7 could become hurricanes, including 1 to 3 major hurricanes (Category 3, 4 or 5). These ranges encompass the entire season, which ends November 30. The NOAA encourages preparedness for each and every season regardless of the seasonal outlook For details on predictions visit The NOAA Website.
